Three common mistakes in
drafting a business plan

January 8, 2015

Your business plan is a key marketing document for review by venture capitalists and angel investors considering your business as a target investment. Surveys validate that only five out of 1000 candidates for investment actually receive funding from venture capitalists. Your Business Plan is the key document that can separate you from those who do not receive investment dollars.

Business plans are typically inadequate in three ways. Unreliable financial projections are a common criticism of investors reviewing such plans. These same capitalists also note that marketing strategies are often not well reasoned or fully developed. Finally, when interviewed about typical weaknesses in Business Plans, venture capitalists typically cite "lack of clarity" as a primary reason for rejecting the plan.

Aggressively addressing these issues when crafting your business plan can make the difference between success and failure in obtaining equity financing.
