Reporter Tom Alexander interviewed Scott Draughon on August 7th about his business and the practice of technology law.

Scott Draughon talked about the firm’s traditional Intellectual Property practice as well as the Technology Transactions practice. He also focused on MyTechnologyLawyer.com and the services offered on the website.

The legal profession has been resistant to embracing disruptive applications of technology. Draughon explained why most law firms have been slow to embrace the concepts of the New Economy.

“Law firms are not run like technology companies,” Draughon told Alexander, explaining that the traditional management structure doesn’t encourage or promote business model changes. Instead of established law firms seeking opportunities with the New Economy, Draughon believes we’ll see a whole new generation of new, innovative law firms moving and taking their place
